Morning all.. Just a brief Recap
In January 2026, West Midlands Police reported several arrests and initiatives targeting retail theft in the Wednesfield and Heath Town areas. Recent updates from WMnow and local police teams include: Prolific Offender Arrests: On January 6, 2026, police charged a male for shop theft in Wednesfield; he was remanded in custody and recalled to prison for breaching license conditions. Earlier in the month, a suspected shop thief was detained after stealing from a convenience store on Cannock Road. Retail Hotspot Patrols: Officers have maintained high-visibility patrols at major shopping hubs including Bentley Bridge Shopping Park, The Crossways Shopping Centre in Heath Town, and stores across Ashmore Park to deter "purse dippers" and shoplifters. "Winter of Action" Initiative: This regional campaign is currently active throughout January 2026, focusing on making high streets safer and more welcoming by tackling retail crime. Digital Pickpocketing Warnings: Police issued a specific alert in January 2026 regarding "digital pickpocketing" at Bentley Bridge and Heath Town markets, where thieves use handheld card readers to trigger unauthorized contactless payments. Targeted Store Theft: Recent enforcement includes the arrest of a woman on January 15, 2026, for repeated thefts at a shop in nearby Willenhall and an appeal for information regarding a theft at St John's Retail Park in Wolverhampton. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity via the West Midlands Police Live Chat or by calling 101. Many Thanks Ian ;-) PCSO 30536 KERRIGAN Wednesfield & Heath Town Neighbourhood Policing Team
